On the eve of the celebration of Science Workers' Day in Kazakhstan on April 12, another meeting of scientists with schoolchildren was held at the Children's University of Astana International University. In accordance with the work plan, the school held a research event on the theme “Journey to the World of Water”, designed to better acquaint 5th grade students with the importance of water in our lives and its impact on the environment. The purpose of the event is to promote interdisciplinary learning and practical application of knowledge acquired by students in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer science. This event also aims to develop critical thinking, research skills and awareness of environmental responsibility among young people.

32 5th grade schoolchildren from school-gymnasium No. 78 in Astana worked in groups for 50 minutes, visiting 5 research stations, each of which was dedicated to a specific scientific discipline related to the study of water. At each station, students spent 10 minutes completing experiments and tasks under the guidance of scientists and students from the Pedagogical Institute. At the end of the event, participants shared their findings and suggestions for conserving water resources.

The date of this meeting of scientists with schoolchildren, April 11, 2024, was not chosen by chance. For the first time in history, the European network EUCUNET declared this day “International Children's University Day”.

We believe that this event will not only be a meaningful and educational experience for students, but will also help them develop a responsible attitude towards the use of natural resources.

On April 15-16, 2024, the event "TRAVEL Hack-2024: Transformative Routes, Adventure, Vision, Exploration and Legacy" took place at Maqsut Narikbayev University, with participation from over 100 students from all cities of Kazakhstan.

During these two days, they presented and defended various projects aimed at finding innovative ideas and solutions to current issues in the field of domestic tourism. The total prize fund amounted to 1,600,000 tenge.

On April 15, 2024, students of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University, together with senior lecturer Seilkhanov Zh.D., attended an open court session of the Specialized Criminal Court of Astana City. Currently, students are studying the topic of criminal offenses against public health and morality, on the subject of Criminal Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where a court hearing was held on a criminal case against citizen who named “N” accused under Article 296 h. 2 “Illegal handling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues without the purpose of sale” and under Article 297 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation for the purpose of sale, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues."

Within the framework of these court sessions, students got acquainted with the procedure for holding a court session: opening of the meeting; explanation by the court to the parties of their procedural rights; submission of petitions by the parties; statement by the prosecutor on the need to elect (extend) a preventive measure in the form of detention to the suspect (accused), speech by a lawyer, as well as other participants. In addition, the students saw the role that professional ethics plays in the work of lawyers.

The Ambassador of China to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao visited Astana International University. During the negotiations with the President of AIU Serik Irsaliyev the parties discussed a number of important issues regarding bilateral relations in the field of higher education and science.

The President of AIU outlined the university's key priorities and collaboration with leading Chinese universities (Beijing, Tsinghua, UIBE, BLCU, Fudan, Jiangsu). He particularly highlighted the visit of a delegation from a Kazakhstani university to China in March of this year, during which an agreement was signed to establish a branch campus of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) at AIU.

The head of the diplomatic mission positively assessed the development of cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China in the field of education and science. According to him, Chinese universities are eager to establish and develop partnership contacts with Kazakhstani universities, among which AIU holds an important position. He emphasized the significance of opening a branch campus of BLCU, which is the main university for training Sinologists and Chinese language translators. The Embassy, on its part, will provide necessary assistance in organizing the branch's operations.

For the third year in a row, a republican charity concert was held at the Astana Opera Theater, where talented children with special needs performed!

On behalf of the educational foundation “Abacus Daryn”, teacher of the Pedagogical Institute Malgazhdarova D.A., 4th year foreign language student Zhumanaly Aizat, 1st year foreign language student Akhmadieva R. received letters of gratitude for their volunteer activities in assisting in holding this event!

The School of Natural Sciences, as part of Career Day, organized an excursion to the Astana regional branch of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory. Students, accompanied by teaching staff Zh. Adamzhanova and M. Zhumagul, visited the laboratory of Diagnostics of Animal Diseases - head Tulegenova G., «Food Safety» - head Bekeshova Zh. and the department for receiving samples and information - head Sugiralieva L.

Director of the Astana regional branch Alimzhanova G. introduced the students to the activities of the enterprise, spoke about current projects and experiments carried out in their institution.

The activities of the enterprise are aimed at ensuring the epizootic well-being of the country regarding especially dangerous animal diseases.  The company provide services for diagnostic studies.  It is worth noting that biology-students annually undergo practical training and conduct experiments for their diploma research in this enterprise.

On April 3, 2024, the results of the I Intra-University Marketing Olympiad "MarketMasters" organized by the Higher School of Economics, were summed up. 24 applications were submitted for participation in the Olympiad. The experts were Akmaral Rymbek, founder of the advertising agency @ akma.target.agency, international NLP practitioner, expert mentor; Bekenova Aigul, lecturer at Esil University in marketing; teaching staff of the Higher School of Economics. According to the results of the work of the expert commission, the following works were recognized as the best:

• 3rd place - team Management 23 B - Market Lionesses

On April 11, School of Natural Sciences held the first interuniversity environmental quiz (dedicated to Earth Day) among Ecology students of our university and the Kazakh University of Technology and Business. 2 teams were formed: Eco-activists and Cleanliness Indicators. Each team consisted of students from both universities. The fans were also divided to support teams. During the quiz, students answered questions, completed tests and solved environmental situations. The first place was taken by the team Purity indicators (Esbay Maira, Shaysultanova Ayanat, Salibayeva Evelina, Tenizbayeva Margarita), and the second place was given to the Eco-Activists (Abuova Tamiris, Belova Alexandra, Saburova Meruert and Dzhemalov Zhaksylyk). The main goal of the quiz - deepening and consolidation of environmental knowledge - was achieved. Such activities contribute to the development of soft skills such as logical thinking, the ability to compare and analyze, and establish cause-and-effect relationships.   The students were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts, senior lecturer of SNS Madina Karibayeva and associated professor of KazUTB Nurgul Mamytova on behalf of the institute's management received letters of thanks.

On April 12 of this year, an ecology week was held at school-lyceum No. 95 in Astana. The event was attended by teachers and students of the Pedagogical Institute and the Higher School of Natural Sciences of Astana International University. As part of the event, Zhumagalieva Zharkyn Zhakievna, associate professor of the pedagogical institute, gave a lecture on the topic «Ecological state of natural waters» to 9th grade students. After the lecture, 3rd year students of the educational program 6B01502 «Biology» conducted various experiments on ecology. At the same time, Karabalaeva Aiman Beisembayevna PhD, senior teacher at the Higher School of Natural Sciences, provided general information on the environmental situation in Kazakhstan and conducted career guidance work about Astana International University among students in grades 9-11. The students were shown video materials about the university and were given booklets.

Students of the EP in the direction of “Preschool education and upbringing” met with the head of kindergarten No. 3 of the RSE at the RSE “Kindergarten “Karlygash” of the MC UDP RK Raushan Toktarova Kozhakhmetova, listened to a lecture on the topic “On the new quality of preschool education (EKERS-3 resources).”

During the meeting, students got acquainted with the life of the Karlygash kindergarten, with the updated pedagogical activities of teachers in the workplace.

The students expressed their gratitude, read their favorite poems, and played the dombra kui.

Recently, lecturers of the School of Natural Sciences Seitkan A., Kenzhegaliyeva D., Karabalayeva A. successfully completed advanced training courses on working with the «ЭРА» software package!

The software provides a wide range of capabilities for monitoring air quality and making informed decisions in the field of environmental protection. The course allows one to calculate emissions from pollution sources, dispersion using one-time and annual dispersion models, taking into account the background, the prospects for the development of an enterprise, monitoring emission standards, issuing documentation for industrial ecological control projects. The use of this software package in the educational process will contribute to the training of competitive environmental specialists!

Students of the Pedagogical Institute AIU Birlik Aybek (“6B01601” , 3rd year), Tursunbaev Adilet, (“6B01601-”, 3rd year), Haydar Dinmukhamed (“6B01601” –, 3rd year) and Kuandyk Meirzhan (“ 6B01601" -", 2nd year) under the scientific supervision of Associate Professor, Ph.D. Dr. Dyusupova Saule Tuyakovna and Master of History Kauanova Shyryn Adilkyzy took part in the XV Republican Subject Student Olympiad in the educational program "6B01601" - History" on the topic: Ulus Jochi in the history of Kazakhstan: role and significance (dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the formation of Ulus Jochi), which was held at the West Kazakhstan University named after Makhambet Utemisov, Uralsk on April 4-5, 2024. 

The team of our students performed under the name “NOMAD” and received a nomination “Best scientific project” and took third place among other universities of the Republic.
