How can we build a strong corporate ecosystem in Kazakhstan? How do we support entrepreneurs in a rapidly changing market? These key questions were at the heart of the grand presentation of the ORDA Business Association for Business Support and Development.

The event brought together leading experts, entrepreneurs, and business representatives to discuss strategies for growth and collaboration. For AIU’s business incubator, this was a significant step in strengthening business connections and expanding opportunities for young startups. On February 6, His Excellency Robert Kirnag, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic, visited our university. As part of the AIU Diplomatic Club, he delivered a guest lecture to students and faculty, sharing his unique experience in international diplomacy. 🌍✨

🔥 The Ambassador’s lecture sparked great interest!
Students asked questions about careers in diplomacy, international relations, and internship opportunities in Slovakia. Mr. Kirnag spoke about the key principles of diplomatic work, shared real-life cases from his practice, and emphasized the role of international cooperation in strengthening ties between nations.

Today, Astana International University students met with Säduaqas Jangir Rayymbekuly, Head of the State Prosecution Department of the Esil District Prosecutor’s Office in Astana. The discussion was open and engaging: how can someone unknowingly become involved in crime, and what are the serious consequences of making the wrong choice?

💡 Shocking Facts for Students:
🔹 The average lifespan of a synthetic drug user is less than 5 years.
🔹 Many young people become "couriers" for just 2,000 tenge, unaware that they risk up to 20 years in prison.
🔹 Even a single drug use can cause irreversible harm—to both health and future.

📲 What to do if you encounter danger?
The Prosecutor’s Office has launched the @ProkuraturaAstanaBot Telegram bot, where people can report suspicious activities or drug-related offenses. So far, 21 illegal channels have been blocked, and active citizens who helped fight this crime have even received gym memberships as a reward.

🔥 AIU students asked dozens of crucial questions: how to recognize a setup, what to do if offered "easy money," and how to protect friends? The discussion was lively and highly informative.

On February 5, 2025, an event on the theme "Elections are a matter for everyone" was held at Astana International University.

The event is dedicated to World Election Day, which this year is celebrated on February 6. The tradition of celebrating World Election Day was approved at the III Global Conference of Election Organizers, held in Budapest in 2005, and falls annually on the first Thursday of February. The decision of the conference opened up new perspectives in recognizing the importance of the work of election organizers and was supported by the United Nations Democracy Fund. According to the idea of the founders, on this day all attention should be paid to the issues of ensuring the electoral rights of citizens and improving electoral processes.

The purpose of the event is to enhance the legal culture of future voters, the formation of young people's knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the conscious realization of electoral rights.

The meeting was attended by the leadership and faculty of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University, representatives of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the TEC of Astana, doctoral students, students of the MUA.

The opening speech was made by the Deputy dean of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University, Seilkhanov Zhanat Duisenbaevich.

Within the framework of the meeting, a business game on the theme of the event was held among the five teams formed from among the students of the Higher School of Law. The teams answered questions about the active participation of citizens in the elections and the improvement of legislation in this area, taking into account the best foreign practices.

The organizers of this event are the Higher School of Law of the AIU and the TEC of the Yesil district of Astana.

On January 31, 2025, at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Zhakieva Zhadira Ermekkyzy successfully defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The topic of her dissertation is "Modeling the Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Surface of Doped BaTiO3," conducted within the framework of the educational program "8D05323 – Technical Physics."

The defense took place at the Dissertation Council for the training of specialists in the field of "8D053 – Physical and Chemical Sciences" in a hybrid format (both online and offline). The council members and invited experts highlighted the high scientific level of the research and its significance for the development of technical physics.

The faculty of the Pedagogical Institute sincerely congratulates Zhakieva Zhadira Ermekkyzy on the successful defense of her dissertation and wishes her further scientific achievements, fruitful work, and new heights in her professional career!

The Pedagogical Institute of the International University of Astana congratulates Bulat Zhulkharnayevich Jumadilov, PhD in Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Pedagogical Institute, for his role as a scientific advisor to the PhD dissertation.

Bulat Zhulkharnayevich served as the scientific advisor for the dissertation of Mikhail Yurievich Klimenko on the topic: “The Use of Modern Bioindicator Methods to Study Tree and Shrub Plants as a Tool for Developing Research Activities of Future Biology Teachers”. This dissertation was prepared under the 8D01550 – Biology educational program at Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after Alkay Margulan.

On January 31, 2025, Astana International University hosted a meeting of the Intersectoral Council of Businesswomen on the topic “Measures to Support Entrepreneurs”. Leading experts and business representatives discussed relevant tools for entrepreneurial support.

The program featured representatives from the Chamber of Entrepreneurs, QazInnovations, Otbasy Bank, and AIU. Participants learned about opportunities for obtaining grants of up to 40 million tenge, training at the AIU business incubator, preferential lending conditions, and support for social entrepreneurs. The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, where participants discussed important topics with experts.

Special attention was given to measures that help women develop and scale their businesses. The Intersectoral Council promotes the creation of favorable conditions for women entrepreneurs, supporting their initiatives and strengthening their position in the economy. According to the Sustainable Development Goals, gender equality shapes responsible business practices. We thank the Chair of the Intersectoral Council of Businesswomen of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken” Saniya Kambarovna, for her cooperation and support.

Astana International University hosted an exhibition and masterclass by the renowned Iranian calligrapher Mohsen Ebrahimi. The event was organized by the School of Arts and Humanities at AIU and brought together students from the "Design" and "Art and Visual Education" programs, as well as all those interested in the art of calligraphy.

With over 20 years of experience, Mohsen Ebrahimi has conducted personal exhibitions and masterclasses across the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. During the session, he shared insights into Persian calligraphy traditions, demonstrated writing techniques, and answered students’ questions.

A special highlight of the event was a lottery, where five lucky students received personalized calligraphic artworks featuring their names, written by the master himself on the spot.

This event provided an invaluable experience for future artists and designers, offering them a deeper understanding of calligraphy, its history, and artistic techniques.

At the Digital Almaty Forum, the President of Astana International University, Serik Irsaliyev, shared the role of the university in advancing new technologies and innovations, as well as AIU’s plans in the space sector and support for startups.

Serik Irsaliyev emphasized that AIU, one of the youngest universities in Kazakhstan, is celebrating its 7th anniversary this year. The university aims to remain open to innovation and support the initiatives of young people. One example of this approach is the university's business incubator, which has been operating for 4 years and helps startup founders develop their projects. AIU students and alumni actively participate in the KazInnovation grant competition, which confirms the high level of entrepreneurial activity at the university.

The President also highlighted the importance of creating an innovative and technological ecosystem at AIU, stating, "We don’t just educate; we aim to be a center for research and technological progress." In this regard, the university has partnered with leading companies like Altair Engineering, specializing in software development for the space industry.

Serik Irsaliyev shared AIU’s ambitious plans, including launching the first university satellite by the end of this year and creating a satellite constellation of 48 satellites by 2030, allowing round-the-clock monitoring of various Earth processes. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with other universities and the private sector for the successful implementation of these projects.

"Commercialization of knowledge and support for energetic young people ready to change the world is the solution when systems do not work perfectly," he remarked, highlighting the role of private investors and startups in technological development.

Additionally, the university actively supports master’s students with their own startup ideas, offering grants for tuition for those who can justify and develop their projects.

Astana International University continues to work for the benefit of students and society, providing unique opportunities for realizing the most ambitious ideas and projects.

The Vice President of Astana International University, Abdrakhmanov Kairat, and the Head of the "Industry 4.0" R&D Center, Baiturin Alibi, gave an interview to 24.kz. During the conversation, they discussed the key areas of the new Center’s work, the preparation of future engineers, and shared insights on how the Digital Almaty 2025 forum went.

Abdrakhmanov and Bayturin emphasized that AIU is actively working on training specialists for high-tech industries, such as artificial intelligence, space technologies, and sustainable development. They shared how the university collaborates with global leaders in the field of technology and offers students unique opportunities for practical training and internships.

Additionally, the interview touched on the impact of Digital Almaty 2025 on the development of the region's technological ecosystem. Leading experts, including AIU representatives, shared their experiences and knowledge, explaining how they are helping Kazakhstan progress toward digital transformation and an innovative future.

At the Digital Almaty 2025 forum, AIU President Serik Irsaliev and Chairman of the Board of JSC "SP Baiterek" Aydyn Aimbetov discussed AIU's participation in the "Baiterek" space program.

AIU proposed collaboration within the project, including the possibility of launching its picosatellite during the test flight of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle, scheduled for late 2025. The initiative was supported, allowing the university to contribute to the development of national space technologies.

Currently, AIU's R&D center is exploring the possibility of developing a picosatellite and preparing to work in this direction.
