During official visit to Turkey, the AIU delegation met with the leadership of two leading Turkish universities - Hacettepe Üniversitesi (Ankara) and Karabuk University and also took part in the international conference "FUTURES LITERACY AND STRATEGIC FORESIGHT 2023".

Based on the results of meetings with colleagues from Hacettepe University, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed, which includes an academic exchange of students, faculty and joint research projects.

Another significant event was the signing of the Protocol on cooperation within the framework of the Mevlana* program, and the parties also discussed the main areas of cooperation in the field of higher education and science.

As mentioned earlier, another significant event was the participation of our delegation in "FUTURES LITERACY AND STRATEGIC FORESIGHT 2023" conference, organized by UNESCO and Karabuk University.

   The plenary session was attended by Yerkebulan Sapiev - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkey, Fuat Gurel - Mayor of Karabuk, Ravza Kavakchi Kan - Deputy of the Turkish Parliament, Harry Jacobs - President of WAAS, Professor Riel Miller, as well as representatives of foreign universities in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore , Romania, Uzbekistan, etc.

The conference program included discussions and presentations on the most pressing issues of the literacy of the future. Interactive workshops were organized for the participants.

A bilateral meeting was held with the rector of the University of Karabuk - Refik Polat, which resulted as an internship for AIU students on the basis of a Turkish university in February-March of this year.

Mevlana* - academic exchange program for the students and faculty

On February 2, 2023, in honor of the 110th anniversary of the Kazakh newspaper, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted an acquaintance with the Akhmet Baitursynuly website and presentations of selected works of the teacher of the nation published for the first time in Kazakh, English, Turkish and Russian, as well as the final collection of the scientific expedition "Alash Movement: Facts and Evidence", organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee on Language Policy, the National Scientific and Practical Center "Til-Kazyna" named after Sh. Shayakhmetov, held in online and offline formats. This interesting and informative event was attended by teachers of the International University of Astana, including Associate Professor of the Pedagogical Institute T.D. Abzhakov, who edited the collection of selected works of Akhmet Baitursynov in Russian.

The presentations were very lively and interesting, the participants expressed their deep gratitude to the organizers.

On February 1, 2023, the Pedagogical Institute of Astana International University hosted the awarding of certificates and a valuable prize to the 1st year student of the specialty "Biology" Zhuldyz Khuanbay. Zhuldyz won two "Grand Prix" under the guidance of Associate Professor T.D. Abzhakov:

- in the III Republican patriotic competition "Tauelsizdik, biik bolsyn tugyryn!" in the nomination "Artistic word";

- in the Republican patriotic competition among creative youth "Zhana Kazakhstan, zhasa Kazakhstan!" in the nomination "Skill of Expressive Reading".

On behalf of the management, the deputy director of the Pedagogical Institute of the AIU, Zhanna Kuanyshevna Akhmadiyeva warmly congratulated the winner and her teacher and wished all the students present to also actively participate in various competitions in the scientific and creative fields.

February 7 this year 4th year students studying in the educational program 6B02101 – Design, held a seminar on the academic discipline “Fundamentals of Scientific Research” in the AMU library. This was not the first seminar at the library. At the beginning of the academic year, 5th year design students began work on their diploma projects by also studying modern search capabilities.

The head of the library, Gulnara Rakhimtaevna Begimova, introduced students to open information resources that provide textbooks, monographs, dissertations and articles from scientific journals in digital format. Platforms of the National Electronic Library of Kazakhstan and the World Digital Library, information portals Bibliorossika, Open Educational Resources, Science Open, Unpaywall, Jstor.org, Eastern Michigan University Browse Research and Scholarship, Cyberleninka, academic resources of the journals “Science”, “Nature”, Abhinav Commerce And Management Arts And Education Science And Technology and many others - this is open access for our students to millions of scientific publications from thousands of scientific journals, books, research projects.

Students need knowledge and ability to use various databases for successful research and project activities. Gulnara Rakhimtaevna’s information about where and what scientific materials can be studied remotely was extremely useful to our students.

On January 31, the opening of the personal exhibition “Bird of Happiness” by member of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan Raigul Akhmetzhanova took place at the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition was organized as part of the Library’s project “Cultural Code of Independence”.

2nd year students of the Higher School of Pedagogy attended the vernissage in addition to training sessions in “Cultural Studies”. R. Akhmetzhanova’s decorative works are based on the traditions and materials of Kazakh folk art, complemented by her own techniques using wood, ceramics, tea, and felt. Warm in mood, harmonious in color, with a subtle sense of rhythm and compositional balance, our students really liked the artist’s works. A visit to the exhibition is a great opportunity for our students to see the evolution of the decorative traditions of the Kazakh people in modern art.

The Higher School of Economics actively uses in the educational process the involvement of practitioners for lectures, guest lectures and master classes of representatives of various companies. Practice-oriented classes and master classes provide an opportunity to learn how to apply the theoretical knowledge and skills acquired at the university in professional activities, this is an opportunity for direct communication with practitioners, acquaintance with the experience of specialists.

During the 1st semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, students strengthened their competencies thanks to lectures by Arman Akberdiev, certified business coach of NCE "Atameken", Emin Askerov, founder of the social workshop "GreenTAL" and the School of Social Entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan, Gulzhazira Zharkeshova, regional director of «Fortune invest» LLP, Miras Abbasov, founder of the company "BioPack.kz ", Ruslana Ishchanova, Deputy Director of the Central Branch of the RSU National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As part of the memorandum between Green Tal LLP and the Higher School of Economics, the Social innovation laboratory was opened in September 2022. 

The purpose of the laboratory is to involve the student community in the development of social entrepreneurship. 

During the period from September to December, such events as guest lectures were held with the founder of social entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan Emin Askerov, with a social entrepreneur on environmental protection, the founder of the company "BioPack.kz" by Miras Abbasov, interactive on the topic of social projects for 1st year students, participation in the Alumni Grants Program competition from the American Embassy, an application has been submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "Development and testing of methods of employment of socially vulnerable segments of the population". We invite everyone to social entrepreneurship events.

According to the results of the competitive selection in the Republic Championship for solving business cases "Kemel Kasipker", students of the Higher School of Economics took part in the event "Entrepreneurial MeetUp" at the AlmaU University in Almaty. 

In the period from January 20-22, 2023, students actively pumped their entrepreneurial skills, studied start-up projects and passed psychological trainings. Each participant was able to ask the speakers and guests a question of interest to him, the guys plan to practically use their knowledge in the university's business incubator.

On Nov. 25th, Astana International University hosted the official delegation of the Sultanate of Oman. The delegation was headed by the Deputy Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Kazakhstan - Dr. Talal al-Yakubi. The guests were received by the President of the Astana International University - Irsaliyev S.A., the Director of the ISCA - Abdrakhmanov K.A. and the head of the department of international cooperation - Zhmaka S.S.

The parties discussed a wide range of opportunities for cooperation in the field of education, including joint educational programs, academic exchange of students and professors, as well as joint research work and other.

Science Day is celebrated annually in our country on April 12. On this day, various events are held in all universities in order to emphasize the important civilizational role of scientific research, which ensures the dynamics of the entire society. The Graduate School of Art and Design has several exciting events planned for our creative students.

On April 11, 2022, students and teachers of the Higher School of Design and Art took part in two art trainings.

The first art training was held in collaboration with the capital’s Tse art destination gallery. Here our students got acquainted with the most interesting project of the Italian artist and designer Alessandro Sciaraffa, organized with the support of the Italian Embassy in Nur-Sultan.

In the exhibition space we had a meeting with the art director of the gallery, designer, master of art history Baurzhan Sagiev. He spoke about the new direction in art and design, Art and Science, and Alessandro Sciaraffa, whose installation became the object of our study and admiration.

The work of the Italian artist-researcher is focused on the study of natural phenomena, which he analyzes and aesthetically visualizes using experimental digital technologies. The Symphony project is a synthesis of the colors, sounds and energy of the Northern Lights, connected to the creativity of the audience. It is the dialogue of the audience with the vibrations of a specially designed installation that nourishes the life of this amazing object, each time visualizing it differently and “talking” to the audience with special timbre sounds. The main thing is that the installation clearly demonstrates the possibilities of contemporary art, combined with the scientific search of the artist.

The second art training was organized and conducted by teachers of the Higher School within the walls of the university museum of applied art. The moderators of the art training were professor, chairman of the Eurasian Union of Designers E. S. Asylkhanov and art critic, candidate of philosophical sciences G. N. Povalyashko.

The artifacts that make up the museum collection have enormous historical and cultural value and give an idea of the various periods in the evolution of the art of the Kazakh people and neighboring countries. Ermek Sabyrovich told students about ethno-design as a modern and promising direction of professional activity, Galina Nikolaevna emphasized the importance of a research approach in artistic design activities and career growth.

Another event of the next day was the podcast “Art and Us. We and science” by the dean of the Higher School of Art and Design, Ybyryi Sayat Baymuratovich. "Only forward!" - the main message of our dean addressed to students and undergraduates.

In the coming days, our students will take part in several more events as part of Science Day at AIU.

On the basis of a cooperation agreement between Toraighyrov University (Pavlodar) and Astana International University, academic mobility of the teaching staff was organized in the 1st semester of the 2022-2023 academic year of the Higher School of Economics together with the Department of Accounting and Finance. Professor of the Department "Accounting and Finance" Toraigyrov University Altaybayeva Zh.K. conducted training sessions on the course "Accounting and audit" for the bachelor of the 2nd year of study specialties "Finance". As part of the outgoing academic mobility for students of Toraigyrov University, training sessions were conducted by Professor of the Higher School of Economics Aimurzina B. T., the course "Fundamentals of Finance" for the bachelor of the 2nd year of the specialties "Accounting and Auditing". The students noted that the training sessions were conducted at a high professional level.
