Guest Lecture by Aleksey Yuryevich Volkov on Diplomacy and Cultural Heritage

On February 10, 2026, students of International Relations at Astana International University attended a guest lecture held within the course Diplomacy and International Communication. The lecture was delivered by Aleksey Yuryevich Volkov, Director of the Institute of Diplomacy of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the session, the speaker presented his work on ten published books devoted to Kazakh–Polish relations, as well as to Kazakh folklore, music, and the broader creative heritage of the Kazakh people. Special attention was given to the contribution of music researcher A. Zataevich.

The guest also spoke about the development of his diplomatic career, including his service as Ambassador and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized the importance of strengthening international relations and highlighted the key personal and professional qualities required for future diplomats.

Students showed strong engagement and asked many questions about the realities and prospects of the diplomatic profession. The lecture was held in an open and interactive format.
