On December 15, 2025, a scientific seminar was held at Astana International University with the participation of researchers from the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty).

The event was organized within the framework of the grant project AP19679078 “Study of species diversity of the ecotone territory of north-eastern Betpak-Dala for the conservation of the relict gene pool of arid flora of Kazakhstan”, implemented by the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The seminar was intended for academic staff, undergraduate students, master’s students, and doctoral candidates of the Higher School of Natural Sciences and served as a platform for discussing актуальные issues of botanical diversity, ecology, and conservation of rare and relict plant species of arid regions of Kazakhstan.

The seminar was conducted by Deputy Dean of the Higher School of Natural Sciences Zhumagul M.Zh. and Researcher of the NatureLab Laboratory Tustubayeva Sh.T.

During the seminar, presentations were delivered on key botanical areas of north-eastern Betpak-Dala; rare and endemic plant species of the region, including Allium lehmannianum Merckl. ex Bunge; issues of ecological specialization and adaptation of relict species to environmental conditions; and species diversity of the family Rosaceae in the flora of north-eastern Betpak-Dala.

The scientific seminar contributed to the development of inter-institutional scientific cooperation, exchange of research results, and involvement of students in current research projects in the fields of botany and biodiversity conservation.
