On March 2, 2023, a round table was held at Astana International University on the topic "Implementation of a separate waste collection system: the university's contribution to the sustainable development of the city."
The purpose of the round table was to draw attention to the problem of environmental pollution with solid household waste; instilling a conscious and responsible attitude to consumption; creation of a dialogue between subjects in the field of waste management; coordination of cooperation priorities and signing of an agreement.
Serik Aztayevich, President of the AMU, delivered a welcoming speech. He noted that the importance of universities as a source of positive changes in social development, including in the field of environmental thinking, is growing. The head of the department of state environmental control of the RSU "Department of Ecology for Astana" Akhmetova Zhansaya Aituarovna spoke about waste management in accordance with the requirements of the new environmental code, Severinenko Alena Petrovna acquainted students with the activities of the Plastnet Network, and Farida Kulkojahmedovna Urazgalieva spoke about the work of IP VTS Astana- 1, which is engaged in the collection of recyclables.
During the event, students actively asked questions, received satisfactory answers and expressed their gratitude to the invited guests.
Within the framework of the round table, cooperation agreements were signed with the IP VTS Astana-1 and the Plastnet network. Thus, Astana International University became the first university in Astana to officially introduce a system of separate waste collection on its territory and this is a serious contribution of the university to the sustainable development of our capital!
